We docked in Montevideo but had already decided we all wanted to go to Punta Del Este, a swanky beach town about 2 hrs away. It was the hottest day any of us had experienced since we left Valparaiso! Mike attempted to barter for a reasonable taxi price, once that failed we hopped onto a bus and were on our way for $16 per person r/t instead of $50 with a cab. Mike's Version: 3hours on a bus... 20 minutes on scalding hot sand 15minutes of photos and a little bit of a flex from Tony...an hour walk in the sun looking for a restaurant…20 minutes eating and 6 litres of sangria with some really nice fruit in it…I actually finished the last bits of strawberry in the jug with mamma’s wooded spoon…m-dog Our version: We meandered around Punta Del Este and braved scalding hot sand for the “hand shots” you see. We then got lost while attempting to find a good lunch spot and made it to a place with killer sangria and a view. We explored Montevideo before getting back on the ship and bought some terribly cheap Uruguayan wine and beer. Sadly this was our last night on the ship and the chefs brought out fun hats and danced around us with cakes. It was a great way to end the cruise-- we already made plans to meet our new friends in Buenos Aires.
